Black Mesa Golf Course:

Dramatic vistas of the sprawling valley climbing to distant mountains serve as an inspiring backdrop at Black Mesa Golf Club. Fairways, framed by arroyos, hug the natural ridgelines and valleys of sandstone foothills like lava leading to undulating greens in box canyons and beneath rocky ridges. Every hole shaped by the surrounding landscape like an artist forming a delicate piece of pottery. Rejuvenate your senses amidst the artistry of nature at Black Mesa. 
Head pro Tom Velarde calls the demanding par-five 16th “stairway to seven.” There are many ways to make that number and more if you are not careful. It is a dramatic hole that looks as if it were a glacier of green snow permanently fixed among the sandstone formations. It is long and, when played in the left-to-right crosswind, very difficult. The tee shot from the elevated back tee demands a well struck drive to a steeply inclined fairway. Once on the green, two putts are certainly not guaranteed. The surface has huge undulations and it falls off severely to the back. The course is under new management and is better than it’s ever been. Black Mesa may well be the premier course in entire state of NM!

Sandia Golf Course

Opened in 2005, this Scott Miller designed Championship course was developed by the Pueblo of Sandia as part of the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Par 72 Championship Course stretches from 5,113 to 7,752 yards and will challenge and delight golfers of all skill levels with a memorable layout routed through the rugged high desert landscape featuring 48 strategically placed bunkers, challenging green complexes and panoramic views of the Sandia Mountains and greater Albuquerque area. The facility also features a full size practice range with a double-tiered teeing area, a 10,000 square foot practice putting green, a practice chipping green with bunker, and a putting green next to the number 1 tee to practice those last few putts before teeing off.
Golf Digest has rated Sandia Golf Course at 4.5 Stars and Golf Week has rated it as a Top 100 Best Resort Courses in the US and Best You Can Play in NM.

The Club at Las Campanas – Sunrise Course

The Lyle Anderson Company, the same firm that developed Desert Highlands, Desert Mountain, and Superstition Mountain, hired Jack Nicklaus to create 36 holes of Signature golf. The Sunrise Golf Course, which opened in 1993, is Jack Nicklaus’ 100th career design and is consistently ranked in the top 5 of New Mexico Courses.
The course features five tee boxes at each hole to allow playability for a wide variety of golfers. Elevated tees permit inspiring views of the surrounding mountains and ever-changing sky. The golf course design at Las Campanas is a significant departure from the concepts Jack has employed in the past. A new, gentler approach is coupled to his sensitivity for preserving the character of the land.
Sitting at an elevation of nearly 7,000 feet, the views at Las Campanas are spectacular, with snow-capped mountains, pinon pines, juniper trees and gently rolling hills. And from spring through fall, fields of yellow, blue and purple wildflowers carpet the landscape.   

The Club at Las Campanas – Sunset Course

The Sunset Course opened in 2000 and has been one of the top three rated courses in New Mexico ever since. In fact this private country club is one of the most difficult places in the the southwest to get a tee time if you are not a member or playing with a member.

The Sunset Course offers more elevation changes than the Sunrise Course and it can be a bit more challenging. However, generous fairways and immaculate conditions help ease the pain.  A round at either of the courses at Las Campanas is a highlight for any golfer visiting New Mexico. Our group will get to play both courses which will make this a trip to remember!
